Frequently asked questions LASH LIFT

How long does it take to apply the lash lift, and how is it done?

The application process normally takes about 1 hour. You will have your eyes closed for the majority of the time. Soft silicone pads will be used to hold your lashes in place while solutions are applied. You will feel light pressure and soft brushing strokes. The application process is pain-free and relaxing; most clients fall asleep during the procedure.

What is the after care for newly applied lash lifts?

1. IMPORTANT:  Avoid hot showers
2. Avoid excessive amounts of extreme heat (steam rooms/saunas/ for 48 hours.
3. No sleeping on your face for 24 hours.
4. The process will need to be repeated in 6-8 weeks when results start to fade.

What do lifted lashes look when they grow out?

A person's natural eyelash falls out generally every 8 weeks. The overall look appears less and less curled. It will be necessary to repeat the process every 6-8 weeks to maintain the lifted appearance.

How do I prep for my appointment?

1. Please do not wear mascara to the appointment.
2. Remove contact lenses at the appointment.
3. Feel free to bring a listening device and headphones if you like.
4. We’ll chat and go over any questions about the process, styling and your daily eyelash routine to determine what will be best for you. Please let me know of any eye conditions/sensitivities-even watery eyes!

Can I swim/shower/exercise/visit a spa with lash lifts?

Yes! Only do so after 24 hours after lash lift application. Lash lifts are H2O and eye-rubbing friendly after the lift sets.

I have short , thick, light/dark, thin, stubborn eyelash hair. Will it work on me?

Lash lifts can be great for a variety of hair types, however, not everyone's lashes are the same. Everyone's lashes have different porosity. The level of lift and duration will vary from client to client.

Please feel free to reach out with any further questions. I’m happy to help.

Frequently asked questions WAXING

DO WAXING TREATMENTS HURT?

Yes and no. Waxing does hurt a little the first appointment. There are two reasons for this:

  • Generally we are removing a lot of coarse hair – especially if you’ve been shaving. When shaved hair grows back the ends tend to split , making the ends a little more coarse so removing that can feel worse than it will the second time.

  • There’s an erector pili muscle attached to your hair follicle which reacts when hair is pulled but the good news is that this sensation definitely diminishes the more you get waxed because the hair growth simply changes, hair growing back finer and finer. and with less hair to manage - means less discomfort.

To sum it up, yes, your first waxing treatment will hurt a a little bit but the effort pays off because it gets better and inevitably you end up with less hair growth so keep up regular appointments to achieve great results.

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR REALLY HAVE TO BE?

Your hair should be about a 1/4 of an inch long. (Think of a grain of rice) or about 3 weeks of growth.

WILL MY HAIR GROW BACK THICKER OR STRONGER?

Only hormonal changes – either natural or artificial – can alter our hair. Shaving blunt cuts our hair and thus leaves a stubble. Waxing pulls the hair out by the root so when it regrows, it is very fine at the tip. With waxing, new hair growth is soft.

WILL MY SKIN EXPERIENCE A REACTION?

Not necessarily, although it can happen. The upper lip, back and chest are all areas that are prone to sensitivity and possible breakouts. If you have a tendency towards ingrown hairs and irritation from shaving, you are more likely to have the same reactions waxing, although dramatically decreased. To minimize skin reactions, you MUST use proper home care and come to get waxed on a regular schedule. I’ll give you some easy recommendations, that’ll ensure you won’t have irritation.

WHAT SHOULDN’T I DO AFTER A WAXING SERVICE?

Do not get extremely sweaty. No working out, sauna, sun, sex, etc., for roughly for 12-24 hours.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO COME IN?

Come in for a wax every 4 weeks. We do experience different growth rates but on average, the 4-week mark is the best time. This timing is based on the 3 stages of hair growth.

Please note: The moment you shave or use Nair, you become a virgin wax again. Your third-time’s-a-charm waxing cycle restarts and you must wait until your third wax for the perfect waxing experience. Patience is key!

DO I HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY UNDRESSED FOR A BRAZILIAN?

Well, yes. But you will only need to undress from the waist down (including your underwear). We understand its probably a bit nerve-racking considering we haven’t met yet and we’ll be applying warm wax which might make you feel a bit vulnerable but trust me, I’ve been doing this a long time and I’ve seen it all. I will make you feel comfortable and will take good care of you.

I AM ON MEDICATION, WILL THIS AFFECT MY WAX?

Please communicate with your Esthetician any medical or skin conditions and also if you are taking any medications prescribed by a doctor such as Retin-A or Accutane. Users of Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Accutane are advised not to use waxing on the face as these medications tend to weaken the skin. Because of this, tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed.

BEFORE YOUR WAXING TREATMENT

Please stop tweezing and/or shaving 2.5 to 3 weeks prior to your first treatment!

IS HOME CARE NECESSARY?

Yes. Home care is a must to ensure the best results. Start your home care the day after receiving your waxing treatment, even if irritation is present. Before that (i.e directly after your treatment and then for at least 12 hours) refrain from using the sauna, deodorant and from tanning. We encourage you to discontinue tweezing, shaving or using any other method of hair removal during your wax life.

HOW LONG WILL MY WAXING TREATMENT LAST?

Most people get waxed every 4 weeks with great success. Please keep in mind that it is important to have 3 weeks of outgrowth before your initial waxing to have maximum hair removal. More times than not, the hair on your bikini, underarms, brows, and upper lip will have a quicker response rate to waxing. Your legs, however, will likely not be as smooth after your first visit. You’ll not be able to see the hair but you will feel it. Do not be discouraged, with each wax your hair will get softer and softer. It really is worth it, I promise.

Please note that hair grows in 3 stages, so you’ll need 3 waxing services, 4 weeks apart to have your wax stay beautifully smooth all the time.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO MY WAXING APPOINTMENT?

We suggest wearing loose clothing. The skin is usually sensitive post waxing service and you won’t want to wear anything that rubs.

WILL I BE COMPLETELY SMOOTH MY FIRST WAX OR NOT?

It really depends on the kind of hair you have. You will not get the best wax until your 3rd wax. (This pertains more to legs)This is due to the 3 stages of hair growth. So, 3 growth stages + 3 waxes = the best wax. By “best wax” we mean: No hair left behind, ultimate smoothness and slow hair re-growth.

WHAT THE HECK IS A BRAZILIAN AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

It’s kind of like a Bikini wax on steroids! A Hollywood wax is the complete removal of hair, front and back. You decide if you want to go completely bare or would like to keep a small landing strip or triangle of hair. (That’s a Brazilian)The Brazilian alone should only take about 20 mins.

I’M PREGNANT! CAN I GET WAXED?

Yes

CAN I GET A WAX WHILE I’M MENSTRUATING?

Yes! Please do not cancel your appointment if you have your menstrual cycle. Just insert a tampon and you’re good to go. Take note, there are differing opinions as to whether or not waxing hurts more on your cycle. Some do believe the pain is worse while others experience no changes in discomfort at all.

Frequently asked questions FACIALS

WHAT DOES A FACIAL DO? IS THERE MORE TO IT THAN SIMPLY FEELING GOOD?

Yes! Skin care treatments coupled with great skin care products should not be considered a luxury, but a way of life for anyone who wants to look and feel great. Hydrophilic cleansers, serums, botanicals, and scrubs are products used during our facials to achieve firm, even-toned, glowing more youthful skin. While you do receive a relaxing massage during a facial, that is certainly not the only benefit.

DO I REALLY NEED TO WEAR SUNSCREEN DAILY?

The NUMBER ONE question we are asked by people everywhere (including estheticians) is, “If you could tell me in one word the one thing to do to prevent aging, what would it be?” Our answer is ALWAYS, “Sunscreen.” We cannot emphasize it enough! Rain, sunshine or snow, you should always use sunscreen during the day. The suns aging rays are always present. We always recommend a 30 SPF and when out in the direct daylight, reapply every hour or two. Keep in mind, one can get a more intense sunburn from water or snow reflections than just sun alone. Save yourself from aging! When you come in, ask about our Daily prevention Sunscreen. I swear by it and we have an oil free option..

CAN I GET A FACIAL IF I’M PREGNANT?

Absolutely. With your hormones going crazy, your skin probably is as well. As the baby grows, we’ll adjust the head of the bed so that you are not lying flat on your back for an extended period.

WILL MY SKIN LOOK RED AFTERWARDS?

Everyone reacts differently but the most amazing (and most common) thing about receiving a facial is that you leave the spa glowing, brighter and with refined skin – think of how you look after leaving the salon post blowout. However, if we are treating acne, then with extractions there could be some redness. During that treatment, we use a certified organic soothing mask that will reduce redness and puffiness within 5 minutes.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A FACIAL?

Facial frequency depends on the condition of your skin and what your skin goals are. It could be anywhere from once a month to once a week. Also, it’s important to maintain your at-home skin care regime. The best results come about when we work together on your skin care goals and needs. We can’t wash your face everyday for you, so get in that bathroom, nourish your skin and let us maintain it!

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER MY FACIAL?

Ideally, try not to BUT some people love that post facial glow and love how their makeup looks on their skin right after. Up to you but I would avoid if possible.

WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?

Only the best, of course! Seriously though – we proudly use and recommend Image Skincare. It is a professional skin care line manufactured in the United States.

IT’S MY VERY FIRST FACIAL.

Facials take about and hour for your first time to accommodate time for consultation. If you are coming glammed up and with your hair just done, please note, we’re going to mess it up! During a facial your hairline will get oily.

WHAT DOES “CUSTOMIZED FACIAL” MEAN?

A Customized Facial means we will decide on your treatment based on your skin type and condition. We will also determine the best products to use. We cleanse your skin according its type and treat for its condition. Image Skincare is specially formulated for all skin types and will create and maintain gorgeous, healthy skin. You will be amazed!
